It's true that more and more of Moscow's stores and restaurants are operating 24 hours. My wife and I noticed a big difference when we traveled to St. Petersburg for a few days. Our train arrived around 11pm and shortly after that we had a hard time in finding an open cafe or produkty.

In Moscow my corner produkty is open till midnight officially, but it's often possible to slip in even up to 1am to buy something.

In some ways I miss the Cold War because Russia made the news more often but its interesting now how it has more shops.
